Round 2 Report
After getting a halved result from our washed out match with Twin Creeks last week, we were keen to further capitalise on the home course advantage that Manly provides this week.
The day was perfect for golf, the greens running superbly after being rolled and the course was in superb condition given the conditions of the previous week. Our opponents Twin Creeks mentioned at speeches how stunned they were at the condition, given what they were expecting.
Unfortunately the final result didn’t go our way in an ever so tight 4 to 3 loss. (Results below with caddie’s name in brackets).
A massive congratulations in particular to Wayne Wright for playing and winning his first ever major pennant match. Will Crisp retains his unbeaten record from 2019, fantastic effort Will, keep it going.
The losses were so close but that’s the nature of this golf as all players are highly capable and consistent.
Halved matches by two gritty “match” players in Captain Eddie Blake and the stalwart himself, Julian Jackson.
Our losses were so close but we now regroup for the challenge of playing Killara on their home course next week.
A special mention to youngsters Brodie Herring and Jack Roche for playing in a reserve “practise” match against each other to accustom themselves to this competitive environment. They are quality young boys, they played the match in a wonderful spirit with Brodie winning 2 and 1.
Thank you to our brilliant caddies and President Gavin for officiating on the day.
