Welcome to ‘Women on the Tee’, the new place to visit for information and news relating to Women’s golf at MGC.

First ‘drive’ of the season is Opening Day ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea party’, Tuesday 18th February, 8.00am shotgun start, a play and stay teams event, 2 best stableford scores to count. Cost $48.00.

The committee looks forward to welcoming you to the start of the golfing season.

Some important information about the day –

It is a fun team event but we understand that some people do not like ‘themed’ events while others get right into the spirit of the day. There is NO obligation to dress up but if you would like to inject some extra fun into things then please enjoy dressing up or wearing a ‘mad’ hat. This year there will be no prize for best dressed but we all can certainly enjoy the range of outfits or headwear that make the day fun for so many people.

We understand that some people have complained at the lack of availability of carts on our busiest days and believe there should be another way to allocate carts dependent upon medical problem, age and physical fitness.

Currently we only have 21 carts available for hire which is probably 3 – 5 less than actually needed. To purchase more carts requires the space to store them and at present we are limited in storage space available for such an option at MGC.

My research on those who have booked carts as soon as the Opening Day sheet came out all have valid reasons for doing so. Many of those women who have booked carts have booked on the holes furthest from the golf club which the committee have been recommending for some time, in order to free up those holes nearer the clubhouse for those that are walking.

The contingency for wet weather is that the course closure will be announced early on the day on the website. There will also be clear information given regarding whether carts can be used on the course. Please remember to check the website if you are unclear about conditions on the course.

If we have a ‘play and stay’ event, such as the upcoming Opening Day, the lunch will still go ahead even if the golf is cancelled.
